Warriors Run Wild Over Visiting El Cajon Valley 37-7
La Mesa, Ca ( 9-10-2011)
The Warrior defense and offense definitely came to play and play big huge is more like it. “ Defense stepped up, we played as a team and nobody quit.” said coach Paul Gorden.
The Warrior defense led by Marco Estudillo, (3 tackles), one saved a touchdown, and the stealth fighters, Benjamin and Daniel Sandoval would wreak serious havoc in the first half, as the visiting El Cajon Valley team could go only one direction, backwards. The offense would reward that great defense on two runs for 112 yards, and two touchdowns engineered by the speedy Hasani Scott, leaving the score at 14-0 Warriors at the half.
The Warriors would continue their assault on rival El Cajon Valley to begin the third quarter. The Warrior coaching staff continued to dig into their bag of tricks, with a QB keeper up the middle from Jose Rojas good for a 50 yard scamper into the end zone for 6, and a Rojas pass to the sure-handed Elija Gorden for a two-point conversion. The rout was on with the lead now, 22-0.
El Cajon Valley would however push one through the seam after nine plays, and a 15-yard touchdown run for 6, and one point conversion run, but they would score no more, with the score now 22-7.
The El Cajon Valley Falcons defense cried out for one last nail in their coffin, with another Rojas run for a 27 yard burst into the end zone.
The game ball was given to the young up and coming speedster Keyon Dawes for his burst outside on third and long for a 50-yard td run, his first of the year. “ I’m very happy with the play of this whole team.” Said defensive coordinator Clay Scott.
The new and improved GLM Warriors will take their momentum to face the Meniffee Patriots next week, on what is forecasted to be a great battle.
Notables; Hasani Scott would finish with 2 carries for 112 yards and two touchdowns, Jose Rojas would finish with two td runs of a combined77 yards, (a season high) and Elija Gorden would finish with 4 tackles and two sacks.
